I've been sending the DVD out slowly...I haven't gotten any complaints yet so I figure it's okay at least. I also continued adding Nathan DuPree photographs to my most of the pages on my website so I think I've moved on from Motel Room (except on this news page). The next project is still the older works, which might move along more quickly now that I heard from Jim Vidal and he's also interested in transferring his old stuff, which means we could get it together and send it to DuArt or another lab together. Or if not I'll just have to get my act together and do it myself...recently my creative energy has gone mostly into writing and thinking about a new film project, which I suppose could come as early as next year. I've been transposing a larger writing project that I wrote recently by hand, which after typing will need huge revisions so that will keep me busy for a while at least...

This past week I went to a screening of another film shot by Bill Winters at The Jacob Burns Film Center, which is in Pleasantville, NY. The film was good and the film center is an amazing place to see movies if you happen to be in the Westchester area.
October 17, 2006

I added a few more Nathan DuPree pictures on the main pages of the site...I'm pretty impressed with the pictures I have from Nathan DuPree, considering it was shot over seven years ago on a very small budget, and still Chris Johnson and I managed to take a good amount of photographs. It never seems like enough, however, and you always end up with too much of something and not enough (or nothing at all) of something else.

There are also continuing delays in making more copies of the DVD, all due to a combination of Amazon.com and the necessary chaos of the mail system in Brooklyn. Have no fear, however, it will be available soon...

I changed two pages on www.preginning.com, including the front page, to include newly retouched pictures from Nathan DuPree. Also, I saw Marta again this past weekend. She had a photograph in Acting 101, the opening exhibit of The Midwives Collective Gallery in Philadelphia (if you're interested you can contact midwivescollective@yahoogroups.com. I do not have Marta's photograph from the show to put up here, but I did finally get a picture of us at the reception after the Myriad Arts ceremony from two weeks ago. Here it is!

October 3, 2006

The Michael Heck DVD is complete!!! I finally at long last (and Marta's insistence) completed the last missing piece: the Nathan DuPree photo slideshow. I also made a test and fixed a few small things and now it is complete! Of course I am already looking forward to volume two because this DVD does not include any of my sight and sound films or the long lost (and yet to be completed) Puzzled.

So Monday night I went to a really fun ceremony at the Tribeca Screening Room. It was the tenth anniversary of Myriad Arts, and they had a ceremony to honor fifteen people who had especially influenced their success. Among the honored was founding Group 8 member Marta Bartholomew for her directing work. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from the evening but Marta promised she'd email me a picture of me and her so here's hoping! Anyway congratulations to Marta for a well-deserved recognition and all the best to everyone at Myriad Arts.

Five years on.

September 8, 2006

Two more from the fish market, and two of my favorites.

September 6, 2006

As promised, more pictures from Japan. These are from the aftermath of the daily tuna auction at the fish market.

Once again, July 28, 2006.

Tokyo Fish Market, July 28, 2006. Very early in the morning.
August 29, 2006

Okay, so until I have all my pictures organized, I only have the digital pictures I took in Japan on my computer. Here are six from the fireworks display I went to in Gifu on July 29, 2006...I have no idea how many people were there but it was a whole lot.

August 28, 2006

I have taken the summer off from updating this news page, but I am back and Tuesday updates can be (almost) regularly expected. I have much to tell and pictures to show...I went to Japan for two weeks and I have also been writing quite a bit, so expect some amazing things soon (but not yet).

Those (few) of you who have been following along through the months and years may have noticed that I never actually finished my DVD...well not for long!!! This fall will be full of great news, so drop me a line and let me know what's up...CLICK!

I have done nothing but watch soccer because I am obsessed with the world cup. I admit I was rooting for Ghana, even though they topped the USA last week...

Really nothing else is going on. Really. Nothing.
June 20, 2006

This week I've been busy with a couple of friends helping them get their feature script together...I've always been good at helping people make their existing scripts better, giving feedback and that sort of thing. I'm much better at that then actually writing my own scripts...the problem is that I can never take my own advice, which I guess is common enough. This script actually may have a future, however, so you may be hearing much more about it soon, especially if I continue to be part of the project, which I'm hoping. I'm really not sure how any of that works, so for now I'm just doing my best to help out and I guess we'll all see what happens next.
June 13, 2006

Today I am enjoying a real day off...nothing much to report except it is a really beautiful day in Brooklyn. Maybe I'll take some pictures later...

Also, if you check out the Hollywood video be sure to click on the Starr D Jeans banner. They provided all of the wardrobe for the dancing scenes in the video and I certainly couldn't have done it without them, so if you get the chance to drop them a line about their stylish jeans that would be really fantastic.

I saw a wonderful reading of a dramatic work-in-progress by Matt Carlson last night...I hope to have a lot more to say about that later because it was really interesting and should have a prosperous future...

I think that's it for this week. I'm not really sure what's next...I still have a little bit of work to do for the DVD project I've been working on for the last few months, but when that's all done I'll of course let you know all about it.

June 6, 2006

Yesterday I once again had the pleasure of shooting with the lovely Amy, star of the Hollywood video. I wanted to make the video a little more dynamic so I went to the beach and took some really pretty shots for the final version of the video. Since yesterday I've been cutting the new section, after spending most of this past week cutting the video as best I could...I think my favorite part now is the beach stuff from yesterday...all in all it was quite a tough project but now that it's all said and done (even though I can't promise I won't keep fiddling with it) I'm happy to have what I consider a good music video under my belt. Of course you might disagree...but here's your chance! Let me know what you think after you check out the latest "final" version of the Hollywood video by The Rugby Club. But I think this is the really real final version.

Okay...so last week I wrote that "The Hollywood video is complete and up!" Perhaps that was true at the time, but it is no longer true...the Hollywood video is up, yes, but it is no longer complete. I have gone back to the drawing board and am cutting madly to have it finished by, well, sometime soon. So feel free to click HERE and see what I have so far, but be confident in the knowledge that changes are coming...

So lately I've been working on getting together my second music video...this time it was for the track Hollywood by the hiphop group The Rugby Club. The shoot was last night and was nothing short of a dream...it lasted about three hours and I couldn't be happier with the result. Of course it will be a week or two before I have the finished product up, but for now, I'll tease you with this picture:

May 9, 2006

It is with much sadness that I must report the passing of Richard Thomas, aka Rigel Hunter. He was a wonderful and unique individual, and my favorite actor. He was the beloved Narrator in all three installments of the Nathan DuPree saga and was featured as Richard in Motel Room.

He died on February 20, 2006, age 55. He will be missed with great affection.

May 2, 2006

It's Tuesday, so I've got something new for you...not that I'll have something new every Tuesday, but I do today. It's my long awaited version of the Freemasons' No More Bad Moods video featuring A.D. Check it out:
