CLIFF is an office worker who lives alone in a huge city. Isolated and miserable, his free time is spent in solitude, watching local news and spying on his neighbors. Cliff yearns for a passionate romance, and from the first time he lays eyes on her, he desires his coworker Sherry. His attraction to Sherry and his overwhelming loneliness lead him into desperation, until he is willing to do anything to win her love.

Stylish and chic, yet ambitious and erratic, SHERRY is a temp office worker whose real life begins at night, when she performs in the city's most fascinating nightclub. When she meets Cliff, he is hardly more than a distraction until she discovers a way to manipulate him into helping her obtain the one thing she values most of all: regaining control of the nightclub she lost to her ex-boyfriend Jonathan.

JONATHAN (40) is a nightclub owner whose complex relationship with Sherry has yet to be unraveled. Superstitious and anti-social, he considers himself the king of his nightclub, answerable to no one. He is oblivious to the fact that Sherry covets his club, believing it to be rightfully hers.

MADGE (20) is Jonathan's latest fling—a young, confident nightclub performer with an unknown past and hidden ambitions. She is smart and observant, and she sees through Cliff's psychic charade immediately as he tries to win over Sherry. Madge seems to always be inside Cliff's head, knowing exactly what move he's going to make next.
